About this image resizer

The resizer scales each image on an HTML5 canvas in your browser. Choose Pixels to set an exact width, height or both, or Percentage to scale every side by the same amount, from 1% to 400%. Leave one of width or height blank in pixel mode and the other is calculated automatically to keep the original proportions.

When you set both a width and a height, a resize mode decides how the image fills that box: fit keeps the whole image visible and can leave one side smaller than the box, fill crops the center of the image so the box is filled exactly, and stretch forces the exact size and can distort the picture. The output keeps the original file format, and JPG or WebP images are re-encoded at 92% quality.

What it does

  • Resizes images by exact pixel width and height, or by a single percentage that scales both sides together.

What the resizer does not do

It changes pixel dimensions, nothing else. A few jobs need a different tool.

No file size target

You can't ask for a result under a set number of KB. Resize first, then run the file through Image compressor for that.

Format mostly stays the same

JPG, PNG and WebP keep their format. GIF and BMP come back as PNG, since browsers can't re-encode a canvas to those formats. For a specific output format, convert first with Image converter.

Crop mode only centers

Fill mode crops the middle of the image to match the target box; there's no control to pick which part is kept.

Same settings for the whole queue

Every image in the queue is resized with the same width, height or percentage. Run separate batches if your images need different sizes.

No. Your browser resizes them on a canvas in this tab. Only JSZip is downloaded, from a CDN, and only when you use Download all (ZIP).

The other side is calculated automatically so the image keeps its original proportions, unless you chose the stretch mode.

Fit keeps the whole image visible inside the target box, so one side can end up smaller than you asked for. Fill crops the center of the image so the box is filled exactly. Stretch forces the exact width and height and can distort the picture.

Not for JPG, PNG or WebP. GIF and BMP files come back as PNG, because a browser can only encode a canvas to JPG, PNG or WebP.

Each image can be up to 100 MB. There's no fixed cap on how many you add, but they're resized one at a time, so a long queue takes longer.

Your images stay on your device

Your browser decodes and redraws each image on a canvas inside this tab. Nothing is uploaded or stored anywhere, and closing the tab clears it from memory. Only JSZip is loaded from a CDN, and only when you download a ZIP.
