About this WebP to PNG converter

The converter decodes each WebP file on an HTML5 canvas and re-encodes it as PNG. That happens in this browser tab, so the file is never uploaded.

PNG keeps whatever the canvas decoded, transparency included, so a WebP image with an alpha channel comes out as a PNG with the same transparency.

What the converter does not do

It only turns WebP into PNG. Other jobs need a different tool.

Larger files

PNG is lossless, so the result is often bigger than the original WebP, especially for photos. If you don't need transparency, WebP to JPG gives a smaller file.

No compression control

There's no quality or compression setting here. To shrink a PNG afterwards, use Image compressor.

No check on the input format

Anything you drop gets decoded and saved as PNG, even if it isn't really a WebP file.

PNG is lossless and WebP usually isn't, so a PNG re-encode of a photo is often larger. If you don't need transparency, WebP to JPG gives a smaller file.

It still converts. The queue doesn't check the file type, so any image you drop is decoded and saved as PNG.

Each file can be up to 100 MB. There's no fixed limit on how many you queue, but they convert one at a time.

Your files stay on your device

Your browser decodes and re-encodes each WebP file inside this tab. Files are not uploaded or stored anywhere, and closing the tab clears them from memory. The only thing downloaded from elsewhere is JSZip, from the cdnjs CDN, and only when you use Download all (ZIP).
