What this converter does not do
It reads GIFs and writes PNGs, one frame per file. Some jobs need a different tool.
The result does not move
A PNG holds one picture. Every frame gives you the animation as a stack of stills, not a file that moves, and nothing here puts them back together. GIF to WebP also writes stills, in a format that is usually smaller.
Bigger files
PNG is lossless, so a long animation exported frame by frame adds up fast. To bring the PNGs down, use Image compressor.
No picking which frames
The setting offers the first frame or all of them. There is no way to ask for frames 4 to 12, or to skip every second one.
No resizing
Each PNG keeps the pixel size of the GIF. To change it, use Image resizer.

Frequently asked questions
No. The page reads each GIF and writes the PNGs inside the same tab. The only download is JSZip, from the cdnjs CDN, and only when a ZIP has to be built.
Set Frames to export to Every frame before you convert. Each frame becomes its own numbered PNG, and as soon as there is more than one they arrive in a ZIP named after the GIF with _frames.zip on the end.
Yes. PNG carries an alpha channel, so the pixels the GIF declared transparent stay transparent. GIF to JPG lays them on white instead, because JPG has no transparency.
Yes. Many animated GIFs store only the part of the picture that changed since the frame before. The page rebuilds each frame as it appears on screen before saving it, so you get whole pictures rather than fragments.
Often not. PNG is lossless, and a whole animation saved frame by frame is usually larger than the GIF it came from. For a smaller file, use Image compressor.
Your files stay on your device
The page reads each GIF and writes the PNGs in this tab. The files are not uploaded, and closing the tab clears them from memory. The one thing loaded from outside is JSZip, from the cdnjs CDN, and only when the frames are packed into a ZIP.
